I'm fortunate that I haven't hit it, it's for a new engine Rob at Ratrace is building for me using a vvc head and new block pistons cams etc
i may just swap the sumps around when I swap the engine over, but I do like a spare in the garage!

As per the title, it doesn't need to be perfect and i am aware that Redline have 3 in stock, im just trying to avoid paying £600 for a new one.
I have a feeling i may be calling Redline

Well that's rather annoying, I thought h was first to respond by saying I was interested.
Oh well you live and learn!
-
Mark, I'm interested, where are you based ?
-
My gut feeling was to go Emerald and i think the thoughts above confirm this.
Thanks for the responses from all.

All,
Before i invest in an Emerald ECU, i would like to ask if the existing Rover unit can be reprogrammed to suit revised cams/induction.
I have seen Revilla's articles and if the Rover mems has now been unlocked, would happily save hundreds of pounds.
Having said that, i know the Emerald system has numerous maps and has been extensively tested and would therefore be a simpler choice.
I suppose my question is, are their sufficient tuning companies adjusting the rover ECU or should i go with the Emerald as it is "known" to more tuners.

Tony, how tall are you as you look about 7'6" in that S3
-
James,
i would like to take these please, where are you located.
-
Wrightpayne,
do you have any details of how the bell tank wet sump plumbing works (diagram)?
Im putting together parts for a dry sump system, purchased a bell tank from 21jigsaw and what you refer to could be a "half way house"

I fitted mine in 2 hours from start to finish, have a look at the blog section of my profile.
I think the drill bit was 8mm to drill out the rivets and it turned out I needed to trim approx 7mm from the top of the carbon fibre dash with a dremmel to make it fit
It's one of those jobs that's more scary to think about than actually do......

Nice to see a Caterham on a chilly morning being driven by someone in just a shirt, fair play!
I was loading the dog into the car at the time, but I will be up Winter Hill and through Marlow for a blat later.

Oily, thank you once again, I'm thinking hydraulic at the moment and the BP285H is now firmly in the cross hairs as I have a vvc head, verniers and blanking kit
rj, thankyou for your google search thingy in your signature, I have suddenly found loads of refences to precisely my questions from 10 years ago, which I couldn't find before, And oily answered 10 years ago......? Must seem like ground hog day for you Oily.
Actually, everyone is suffering from groundhogbday at the moment, roll on May 17th

I was wondering which cams were installed into the VHPD k series engine and which of the Piper camshaft are the closest equivalent.
-
Andykart, I think they are for an S3 so not for me, apologies.
-
Andykart, if these are the correct size for an SV I will take them please, the ones fitted to my SV appear to be for a S3
I will confirm dimension in the morning if that's ok.

Ah, then we met in Bourne End last year, down at the shops, I have an Orange SV.

O (oh) best find one of those now and the one you mentioned previously for the oil pick up in the bottom of the bell tank

Tomb,
Mine arrived yesterday, thank you for letting us all know!
Strange, the joy that can be derived from finding a specific piece and the weird look my wife gave me when I went straight out to the garage to fit it onto the dry sump and collection of parts on the bench in the garage last night.
I did then start wondering why postage was free from the caterham eBay shop but £7 from the caterham parts store, but my happiness quickly returned as i fitted the screw cap.
