  1. Hey Folks, The centre post on my central spa mirror seems to be knackered and to have come unbonded form the mirror case. The only way I can think to repair it would be to remove the glass, refit the post and then replace the glass - so my question; how do you remove the glass ? it would also be great to hear any better ideas, or whether anyone has experience of getting Spa Design to repair them ? TIA
  2. Hi Folks, Im interested in what clever ways you've found to store your screen and stanchions when going aero ?? Obviously keen to not get the screen damaged when it's not being used, but not sure whether to try and buy something in which to store it, or maybe build something ?? Keen to hear your thoughts and ideas. TIA
  3. Thanks JV, appreciate your thoughts and photos - very helpful.
  4. Hey Folks, I'm curious, and wondered whether anyone has any experience; is there a way of doing an RBTB conversion to a Duratec, but without cutting the bonnet ? Looking at various cars with RBTBs, it doesn't seem like it needs a lot of additional clearance, and I'm wondering whether there a set of shorter trumpets that would fit without taking a hacksaw to my paint :) TIA
  5. I have a 2017 420r and am starting to think about potential mods and upgrades. I'm thinking initially that I'd like a little more noise (and maybe power) so am after some recommendations from those that have been down this route. I don't want to go full RBTBs (cost, but also don't want to cut the bonnet), but wondering if there are any other options to improve the air intake ( can the standard air box be replaced with a K&N cone ? If so, which one ?) and whether a decaf would help ? Any other recommendations on a good first couple of steps ? Thanks
  6. I’ve had a 125 Sigma and currently a 420. The extra ground clearance of the dry sump on the 420 makes a big difference, I was forever clonking the sump on the Sigma. Personally, it took about 18 months of road use to get to the point of needing more power in the 125 and the cost of upgrading was going to be huge; hence why I went 420. 13” wheels “look right” for Caterhams, the 15” Orcas are too “modern”. Yu may also want to consider the “upgraded” 4 piston brakes if you go down the 420 route; I’ve found them to be very good.
  7. Thanks again Chris. I’ve done some testing this afternoon based on your guidance, and I’m now suspecting it’s just the increased ambient heat causing the normal running temp to just sit a little higher. The thermostat seems to open at 95-100 and the fan seems to kick in around 105. The bottom hose runs hot once the thermostat has opened, and all of the coolant hoses (including the heater) seem about right. Running the heater full blast also helps slow how quickly it gets hot, but that’s not something I’d be wanting to do on days like today ! :) I ran ran the car up without the expansion tank cap, hoping to bleed out any air that might be present, and all seems good. It’s also still not dropped any coolant. I’ll get CC to check things over when it next goes in, but I guess currently it all looks good. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks Chris, very useful.
  9. Hi All, I’d welcome some thoughts on whether my car’s current behaviour is common or not. The temperature the car runs at seems to have changed over the last few outings ( I guess also impacted by the glorious weather ). It used to sit quite comfortably at an indicated 90 degrees and would be able to sit in traffic for a while before the temps rose and the fan kicks in. Now, cruising at 50 or above keeps the temp at 90, anything less and the temp rises quickly and the fan cuts in. It’s never overheated, it’s just that I’ve noticed the change. I did fill it with vPower by mistake in the previous fill up, would that cause it to run hot ? Grateful for any guidance. Thanks
  10. I was behind you from Jnc 10 to 11. Lovely looking car !
  11. I'll take it if it's still available. PM on route.
  12. Did you find a fix for this ? I seem to have the same issue, and have done the same checks.
  13. Hi Folks, New to the forum having just bought my first Caterham - It's a Vauxhall 1.6 SOHC Beulieu on twin Webber 40s. So far, enjoying the car apart from a new issue that's developed - at anything other than idle or full throttle, the car miss-fires, pinks, and generally runs terribly. Experience with older cars would have suggested timing, or vac advance, but this has electronic ignition so I'm at a bit of a loss. Appreciate any guidance, or suggestions of who might be best to take a look (and help setup the carbs) in North Berks. Thanks
