  1. A big to Safety devices. they have managed to trace my Live Axle cage homologation certificate, issued a copy and are able to issue a homologation sticker.
  2. At least running first this season I can keep my eye on you all so there will be no escaping the honor of the trowel.

wrist restraints are not compulsory for sprints or hillclimbs, its a personal choice, some use them, most don't. half or no doors is again a personal preference, most run with aero screen and either open cockpit or half tonneau and a half door.

Well we won't go into sharing helmets and using a Balaclava Know the feeling about wanting to get started, always feels the same at this time of year itching toready to get going. Championship & Curborough entries should be open at the end of January. don't forget to check your race suit is compliant as the older proban suits are no longer allowed and don't forget that you will also need compliant gloves.

Hi Delbert, The only daft question is the question you don't ask so feel free to ask away. If you are getting the cage power coated make sure that you contact the manufacturer for a replacement homogalation sticker before the powder coating in case the old sticker is destroyed during painting. If you go down the Caterham route for the timing strut, then a trick to make the fitting easier is to fit two rivnuts to the rear channel to give you captive nuts. Championship numbers are issued at the beginning of April once championship entries have been received and are three digits starting with a 5, as Chris has said a Roundall is not required unless you have a colour which does not contrast well with Black or White, but some competitors do use them in order to provide protection to the paintwork.
  7. Okay not s problem if its on the list
  8. can whoever has the yellow trowel let me know, I had thought that Roger Cumming had still got it after Curborough, but i'm advised he's passed it on but can't remember to who...
  9. It appear that Sticky posts do not always show. They only appear when they have been updated within the last updated period selection, which results in many older stickys not being shown.
  10. Thanks for everyone's patience at the Awards Lunch - we now have a clear cut result for the basis of our 2016 Regulations. The voting figures are 2016 Regulations Consultation - Ballot Paper 1 Result.pdf 2016 Regulations Consultation - Ballot Paper 2B Result.pdf 2016 Regulations Consultation - Ballot Paper 3 Result.pdf 2016 Regulations Consultation - Ballot Result Summary.pdf and I have also added a very basic summary of how the regs are going to look. There is a lot of detail to be sorted out yet, of course, but I'm hoping to submit the first draft to the MSA within the next couple of weeks. At least you all know which List your 2016 tyres need to be on but I can see that there's some interesting decisions yet to be made on exactly which ones to choose. I shall watch with interest.
  11. How to find the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon here Please be aware that there is a lot of work going on in and outside the site, with roadworks and a new museum building. So look out for signs and allow a few minutes extra. Room: Conference room 1. Go to the main museum reception at the front of the building and then follow the signs to the Conference Centre - which is at the back of the building up an escalator. Arrival & departure: Any time after 10.30am but coffee & tea will available in the room at 11.00am. We have use of the room until 4.00pm. Agenda: 12.30pm - Lunch, 1.30pm - Presentations, 2.00pm – Regulations Vote Visiting the Museum: You will need to collect a badge from the Conference room and you are then free to walk around it before and after lunch. It's really worth a look to admire all those cars that we drove in our youth. Well some of us anyway I'm looking forward to seeing you all and pleased to say that both of our sponsors, Premier Power and Quantum, will be attending.

Yes it will Rob - just a few loose ends to tie up now.
  13. All proposals that have been submitted and accepted by our esteemed Regs committee are now published here: http://www.lotus7.club/regulation-change-proposals-2016 They are grouped under the headings of Classes & Tyres, Scoring & Technical and, as you would expect, the majority are in the first section. If you intend to vote at the Awards Lunch, please read these carefully and decide on your preferences, because you will only see a summary version of the options when it comes to putting your X on the paper. I will be trying to keep it as simple as possible but some of the proposals will only work as a complete solution across all Classes – whereas others can be voted against as stand-alone options in each Class. If that sounds complicated it wont’ be on the day. But it might be for me in bringing it to that stage! So make sure that you come along to the Awards lunch and get your chance to vote. There are still plenty places available so phone Sam Pearce on 01873 777303 and book your place.
  14. A reminder that the deadline for submission of proposals is midnight on Sunday 8th. That means that you have this weekend prepare and send yours - in the format defined here http://www.lotus7.club/competitors-area please Most proposals are, unsurprisingly, focused on dealing with the new MSA tyre regs - Class structure and scoring. However, it would be useful to have a few more ideas on scoring for the overall Champion and Edward Lewis Cup. Get your thinking caps on
  15. Thanks for pointing that out Shaun. Punctuation error made it read incorrectly - now edited.
  16. Current Class 1 and 2 competitors will have nothing to worry about for 2016. There are no changes to any tyres that are commonly used in these Classes within our championship - but do please check that your tyres appear in the new List 1A section. Be aware that there are likely to be further changes in tyre regs over the next few years so, although we shouldn't try and predict the future, it would be better to make changes now that have a chance of still being viable in years to come. Classes 3 to 6 - If we do nothing to our Class structure and maintain the road-going status, all cars must be fitted with List 1A or (new) List 1B tyres. (Effectively all the sticky soft compounds have been moved to List 1C) The new list effectively excludes all the tyres we have previously used. Even Medium compound Avon ZZR's. The only ZZR compound that will be eligible will be from code numbers ZZR (OE Fitments marked 15156 & 15157 only). All Kumho's will be excluded, as will Yokohama A21 etc. CR500 will be a list 1B tyre – as will the ZZS. So the chances are that you will have to buy new tyres if you want to continue competing in these Classes. List 1 B also allows pre 1990 cars to run ACB10 tyres - (this is being reviewed by the Regulations Committee and I suspect we will continue to exclude them, otherwise everyone will be looking for old cars to race). Mod Prod - If you want to continue competing with your old List 1B tyres, which will be 1C now of course, you will have to go Mod Prod - Modified Specialist Production. But it will now be necessary to wear an FHR. (HANS or Simpson Hybrid). This will also apply to Class 7. In Mod Prod you must run an approved cage of which there are numerous options but, since our regs already require this, there are no additional implications. Also note that Mod Prod cars do not have to be road registered. Please note that there are a couple of tyres on the List 1B that are being tested by other manufactures to ensure their conformity to the E markings. Comment from Simon- “I would not be buying a tyre in the softest compound that has "888" in its name just yet!” The MSA Tyre lists can be found here https://www.msauk.org/assets/2016tyrelists1abc.pdf This post is meant for information only and I hope that it clarifies the implications of the new rules and how they affect our current Classes. We are very interested in any proposals that suggest an alternative Class structure that would accommodate all tyre types - 1A, 1B & 1C. I would also appreciate it if you could separate your class structure proposals from any new scoring system suggestion - it would make life a lot simpler when it comes to voting.
  17. Please note that the deadline for submissions is midnight on Sunday 8th November as stated in the procedure here http://www.lotus7.club/competitors-area. Just in case you hadn't noticed.
  18. Answer received from MSA today - see below The regulations in S11.6.2 have not changed, in that for the Roadgoing Categories tyres must be to list 1a or 1b. As ever, championship regulations can tighten up to require only 1a or only 1b, but they cannot be opened beyond the general regulation to allow tyres that are not 1a or 1b listed. Apologies if you are already aware of this but I wanted to make it clear that this is not a decision taken for any reason other than legislation. The change has been forced upon us by changes in EU/EEC regulations regarding the sale of tyres, to be sold for public highway use a tyre needs to comply with the new labelling regulations that measure factors such as rolling resistance, wet performance, road noise etc.. if a tyre does not meet the new labelling regulations then it cannot be sold for use on the public highway. The only reason a tyre would have been removed from list 1b onto 1c is because the manufacturer has confirmed that it does not comply with the new EU labelling regulations. And as I’m sure you can see, we cannot have general regulations that allow the use of tyres which cannot be sold for road use in the Roadgoing Categories. Competitors were given notice in the 2015 MSA yearbook that tyres may be removed from list 1b for 2016.
  19. We are now approaching the stage when our 2016 Regs have to be finalised and, although we are all conscious of the (almost official) MSA directive on tyres, now is the time to also submit proposals for any other changes that you think will be beneficial. I have therefore set out a submissions procedure that, I hope, is both inclusive and fair. It is likely that all the suggestions will be well thought out but, to make sure that this is the case, I have formed a Regulations Committee, made up of ex Comp Secs, Comp Scorer and active Management Team members. This Group will make an initial screening of all proposals to ensure that they meet some basic criteria before they are put forward for voting. Instructions on how to submit your proposal are on the link below. I look forward to seeing some inventive ideas. http://www.lotus7.club/competitors-area
  20. I'm pleased to announce that, in addition to all the other excellent work that he does for the Championship, Chris Bramall has volunteered to take on the Comp Sec role from 1st January. I know that Chris will do an excellent job and I'm sure he would be very grateful if any of you were to offer your services in supporting him with his varied workload. I hope that I have been able to pay off a little of my debt to the Club during my short time as Comp Sec and would like to wish everyone success in the coming season. Thanks to you all for your forbearance over the last year and it's very comforting to know that the Championship will now have a proper Comp Sec for 2016 - and is in good hands for the future. Paul I am nearing the end of my caretaker role as Comp Sec for this year and the Club now needs a volunteer to take over for 2016. My plans and commitments for next year make it impossible for me to extend my intended stay so we would appreciate it if someone would now put their name forward as my replacement. Traditionally, the Comp Sec role has largely been carried out by one person but we now have an opportunity to make some changes. It is, of course, up to the new Comp Sec to decide how they would like to work but, having now done the job for a year, I am of the opinion that the role would benefit considerably from the formation of a Speed Committee to share some of the duties and ensure that decisions are well informed and democratic. I already have at least four people who have agreed to join this group if this method of working is adopted. However, I strongly believe that a new, more sustainable, system is needed and would assist in establishing this with the newcomer to the position, if required. It is very important that we have an overlap period to formulate the 2016 regs and calendar over the next couple of months so it would be good to get the newcomer on board soon – and I would be very willing help with other start of year stuff, such as MSA permits etc. This is an opportunity for someone to help move the Speed Championship forward in this time of change. So what are you waiting for? Mail me at paul.forster@lotus7.club if you would like to talk it over
  21. Thanks Dave It normally takes the form of a rolling video played before (and during?) lunch. As you say, it depends on competitors sending you their material - so maybe people reading this can let us know what they've got.
  22. As it says in the title. We normally have a combination of stills & video running and I would greatly appreciate someone to help me out with preparing this. It would mean requesting material from competitors and compiling the video. A volunteer for this task would help me out enormously. Thanks
  23. I hope that you already have this in your diary and are planning to come along so now is the time to phone Sam Pearce on 01873 777303 and book your place at £31 per head. There will be coffee on arrival from around 10.30 a.m which will give you plenty of time to wander around the museum. A three-course lunch will be served at 12.30 (to be confirmed) and there will be an opportunity to vote on regulation changes after the meal. Details on how to propose reg changes will follow on a separate post later this week but please note that this won’t be a discussion forum (where partners or the disinterested leave the room) but a simple yes/no to previously published proposals. I hope that you will all make an effort to come along to applaud the Champions, cast your vote on the 2016 regs and just have a very pleasant lunch. Venue: Heritage Motor Centre, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire CV35 0BJ Menu: Starter - Timbala of Gala Melon (V) (GF) Main – Maize fed Chicken Breast stuffed with Red Pepper and Sundried Tomato Mousse, Red Wine & Rosemary Jus (GF) Main Vegetarian option – Baked Sweet Pepper filled with Thai Style Vegetables, Honey Lemon, Soy Sauce & Jasmine Rice (V) (GF) Dessert: White Chocolate & Berry Cheesecake with Berry Compote
  24. I have also posed questions to the MSA regarding List IB & 1C in roadgoing classes for 2016 but would prefer not to comment until I get their official answer. As I understand it, the main implication of going modprod is that a HANS device must be fitted. I promise to let you all know when I get a reply from the MSA
