  1. This fits with my thinking as whenever the garage take a test drive (after replacing seals) its fine and yet when I drive it (maybe slightly more energetically) it leaks. I guess the question is 'what happens next' just accept it and top up occasionally? Your news does help though as it puts my mind at rest about volume of oil being lost and the risk of running it dry. Thanks!
  2. Hi, I just saw this post (realise its a few years old) and wondered if you found an appropriate solution - i've just been searching for the same. Thanks Mike
  3. Hi, Same problem here. Local (non caterham specialist) has had my Supersport back 5 times in the last 12 months after they identified the leak on the output seals of my BMW diff. After replacing the seals each (and every) time we ended up modifying the breather to make the hole bigger and add a decent length of pipe, unfortunately it still leaks. Am intregued about the idea of reducing the amount of oil in the diff, yes it would take it below the level of the output seals (eliminating the opportunity for leaks?) but how would you then check whether it had lost further fluid? I'm not sure if I compound the problem by storing the car slightly nose high (circa 10 degrees). Incidentally I also have a slow gearbox leak which may also be influenced by the attitude of the car. Mike
  4. Just the sort of thing I was looking for. Thank you! Has anyone here tried doing this or similar?
  5. Hi all, Have been having a few issues with my diff leaking oil through the axle seals (seals replaced 3 times), I now suspect it's a breather issue and wonder if anyone has photos of the BMW diff and how the breather is supposed to work? Thanks Mike
  6. Hi John, Not sure (not having had a K Series). Happy to take a picture if that helps. Andy, thanks for that. Seems like a winter project to me (i was just about to search for guidance about how to do it in the forums)

  8. Hi All, in the end it was due to an ID10T issue due to PICNIC (Problem in Cockpit, not in Caterham). It was the battery. Thank you all for your advice on this. Pat, i'm going to follow your advice in the winter and do the same. How did you connect it to the battery? did you "just" cut the wires from the charger/conditioner? Any chance of some photos (Battery, lower wishbone connection without charger, lower wishbone with it connected)? Thank you again. Mike
  9. Thanks Jonathan, recieved with grateful thanks.
  10. Thanks Jonathan, I'll use my imagination for the first two letters, i imagine they will "evolve" as tomorrow's investigation progresses... ChrisC - I havent found a good one yet, do you have one to hand? Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the tips guys. I had already contacted Caterham about this and disapointingly they suggested (in their first response) that i needed a new starter for £260 + VAT... Jonathan I'll definitey be looking through all your suggestions before i take that option. In terms of the MFRU issue, how do i prove that? (I assume the acroynm is MainFuseRelayUnit). Jez, as you can tell i'm quite suspicious of my brothers gracious entry to the car... everything looks ok but i'll take them all out and put them back in again on Saturday just to prove it. Pat, some good ideas there. After trying Jonathan's thoughts i'll try jump starting the car from the daily driver and then may well copy your suggestion. I cant see the contents of the links either, a shame as i'm sure they're helpful!
  12. Hi, I've now had my Supersport for 4 months and am loving it (2000 miles so far, including a semi regular - and now more fun - 45 mile work commute). But...I tried to start it on Sunday morning (after a fun drive) without luck. All is well up to the point i turn the key to start (imobiliser deactivated, pumps whiring etc) when all that happens is a rapid fire clicking from the engine bay. I've tried again this evening with the same result. After an internet (and forum) search I believe its either the solenoid not engaging properly or the starter motor, does anyone have any tips as to how/where I troubleshoot? Am i barking up the wrong tree (and how do I find out)? One of the potential causes is that my brother bundled into the car in his usual "gracious" manner on Saturday and stuffed his bag above his knees, I cant see that he dislodged anything obvious (the flasher repeater was suspiciously displaced...) and i've pushed everything back into place. I've also charged the battery (to eliminate that as a variable- its only 2 years/2400 miles old) The car will "bump/push" start (i needed to to get it home) so I dont think the issue is further downstream than solenoid/starter. Any tips would be gratefully appreciated, I'm a relative novice when it comes to engines etc (thats one of the reasons I bought the car - to learn). Thanks in advance!!!!
  13. Thanks both. I have a feeling that this will be a "fun" job...
  14. some great technical answers here. My thought (cheating) is that i'd buy a power block booster and use that to charge the phone/satnav. Also useful at the destination. I used a Powergen Juice Pack 1200mah (google search = powergen juice pack 12000). Have fun.
  15. Hi All, I've just picked up my first 7, amazing and built by a friend and his daughters. He had an aeroscreen fitted and while its definitely a better drive that way i've decided that its impossible to do a UK commute and get home in the dry, particularly when the A1 is involved... So... I've had the weather gear delivered, but the washer and wipers werent fitted in the original build. The holes are in the scuttle but I cant find reference to instructions on how to fit the washer and wiper (motors etc) anywhere. Has anyone done it? what do i need? any tips/do's and don'ts? From looking online i've found two key gotchas already (am sure there are more): 1. The washer bracket needs to be fitted before the engine... (slight problem there... are there alternatives) 2. The wiper assembly needs bending but how much and where? Other questions, how is the wiper assembly fitted to the car (what holds it in the right place?) Any tips gratefully received! Apologies if i've missed a post that covers all this (if you could point me in the right direction i'd be grateful). Have fun and enjoy the wonderful British weather! Mike
