Changed silencer, now it won't idle

My SLR had a knackered 7" Caterham race silencer with 4-2-1 manifold and no catalyst. I bought a SBD silencer off a friend, and fitted this today, but now the car won't idle, hot or cold. Everything else is standard.

Will it 'learn' the new exhaust, or is the only option to get an Emerald ECU and a re-map? I'd rather not do this immediately if I can help it. Is there anyway to force the ECU to re-map to base settings, or am I stuffed?

On the positive side, it is far quieter now.....

Have you tried fitting the old one back to see if it idles again (albeit noisily)?

I know the sq.root of bugger all, but I think it's strange that it won't idle at all with just a silencer change.

There is a procedure for resetting the std. ECU. I think you turn the ignition on, depress the accelrator fully 5 (or 6) times, switch off then start up. It's documented by people who've had to do it somewhere on the forum.
