Ozzy
Had my brother in the car the other day, and it felt considerably slower than usual. I reckon he's about 16 stone. What's the power loss with this sort of extra weight in terms of performance. Anybody know how to work this out?? Oz. shn7
Calculation is: 1000 / totalweight x bhp = bhp/tonne So if the car say weighs 600kgs with just you in it and has let's say 150bhp that gives 250bhp/tonne. Adding 16 stone (102kg) will mean total weight is 702kgs reducing the power/weight to 214bhp/tonne which means a 14.4% reduction i.e. more than enough to be noticed. Steve. Petrolhead
Just a guess 16st = 100 kg You have a 1.6 ss with 135 bhp and say 600 kg weight with you in it (I could be wrong just guessing) so 135/6 = 22.5bpp per 100kg So with you pal in: 135/7 = 19bhp per 100kg So it would be like driving (19 x 6 = 114) a std Roadsport R5 no 65 😬
Ozzy
Thanks Guy's. I'll have to tell him, if he wants to come in the car again, he'll have to slim down a bit. 😬 Can't be doing with going slower!!!!!
