Ian_Brandon
I was recently doing a slow speed run in convoy which involved going down some very steep, narrow lanes. A couple of times when in first using no throttle and no brakes ie full engine breaking the car jumped out of gear. Its a 6 speed box with no previous history of bad behaviour. I don't very often drive in this fashion so its not a big deal at present, but is this a warning sign of worse to come? Any thoughts? Ian
shn7
Don't know from experience but suggest you may want to call Phil at Road & Race Transmissions for advice. A search should find the number. Doesn't sound right does it. Steve.
Sheds Moderator
Normally indicates worn snychro hubs or detent springs. If the box drives normally otherwise then I'd live with it, it's only first that's affected. If it starts getting difficult to slot into first when rolling then it's box out/repair time. ☹️

Ian_Brandon
Hi Dave, Its nice to find a kindred spirit in the "oh they all do that sir" mode. Makes me feel a bit better. What I have in mind is that I may just need a crawler gear in case we go down any goat tracks on USA 2005 (especially 11000 ft , snowy goat tracks) - still maybe some nudge bars and staying friendly with the guy in front will do the trick . Anyway I think I might test it out a bit more and see if it was an isolated incident and if not take up Steve's suggestion and speak to SPC Cheers all.
