Wingnut
I have just replaced my standard thermostat after an overheating scare (thankfully turned out to be the sender)with an R500 item that is meant to run at around 74 degrees. I have just been out and the temperature is pretty solid around 70 degrees as would be expected. I should have thought abought this sooner, but am a little concerned about engine wear running at lower temperatures, I am hoping that as long as I let my oil (Mobil 1) get up to a decent temperature that this should not be a problem. The cars a pretty standard 1.6K supersport, should I change back to the standard thermostat? Thanks Wingnut
Peter Carmichael
There is a middle ground with an 82 degree thermostat that is my preferred solution. I've had bad experiences with QH thermostats, so I usually try and get the Rover sourced part.
