PaulD
My k-series has developed a miss-fire. It only starts when the engine is fully warm (after about 6 miles or so) and gets worse with load. My first thought is the engine temp sensor has failed. Any other likely suspects? Paul

inspector71
Has any of the electrical loom plugs been removed / disturbed recently? My 7 had a misfire which was eventually traced to a bent pin in the plug connecting the loom to the ECU. Good luck peter h
CageyH
I would go along the plug leads/dizzy cap route. When was the last time either were changed?
PaulD
I changed plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor arm about 1000 miles ago. The miss fire does seem like an ignition problem, v. similar to running into the rev limiter. But why would it only start to miss when the engine is fully warm? Simon Dart
Yeah, I'd go along with HT problems somewhere. if the car is 4yrs+ old I replace all HT related items regardless. Touch wood, I've never broken down... that's blown it, here comes the curse of he who opens his mouth Sorry, paul, just missed your last post. The temperature related nature of the missfire points towards an expansion contraction thing somewhere within a plug or socket. Check the mechanical integrity of anything you've disturbed recently. CageyH
Are all the spark plugs tight? Have you tested to see if the leads you have fitted are any good? There may be a manufacturing defect...
