Big Brother
Can anyone confirm the oil capacity for a Crossflow engine (1700 Supersprint) fitted with a standard Caterham sump and a new oil filter? I think its around 3.5 litres but need confirmation I plan to calibrate a dipstick tomorrow and need to know the exact capacity to do it. Steve Se7en-Up! Now with added green! Drumster
Steve, Sorry I can't give you the definitive answer, but I only recently changed the oil in mine and am pretty sure that I couldn't get the full 4 litres in, so I'm guestimating that 3.5 litres is about right. Hope someone can back this up for you. Chris Alston 1800 Supersprint here Drive it like you stole it!
Neville
The Caterham handbook says 3.3 litres for ford engines
Big Brother
Cheers Chris I need to get this pretty much spot on as I will be /cuttingmarking up a new dipstick. I have an old Owners Manual and it stated 3.3 litres. Not sure if this is with the capacity of the oil filter though. Steve Se7en-Up! Now with added green! Big Brother
Posted at the same time as Neville. If it says 3.3L, I guess 3.5L with an oil filter can't be to far off the mark (excuse the pun) Steve Se7en-Up! Now with added green! Big Brother
No oil cooler at the moment - just a new deeper sump. Steve Se7en-Up! Now with added green!
