Joe 90
I've just discovered that my Xflow lucas distributor only advances about 8 degrees between idle and 4000 rpm. Twisting the rotor arm indicates that nothing feels broken or stuck. Anyone got any ideas? SEP field working, not spotted in 100,640 miles. Roger King
If that's one of Caterham's unleaded ones, it's nothing unusual. They usually show about twelve degrees, but I've seen several only giving nine. That's the reason a dizzy swap is such a good performance upgrade. Assuming that you are quoting crank degrees of advance and not dizzy.
Joe 90
Thanks Roger, yes that's crank degrees. Can it be modded or does it need replacing? SEP field working, not spotted in 100,640 miles. Some photos here

Roger King
In theory you could modify it by altering the end stop and the springs, but in practice I'd recommend replacement. First though, I'd have a look inside just in case you actually do have a mechanical problem that can be fixed.
