Alex Birtwisle
ok ..... maybe not on the wing .... but all over the A14. Boonie Hound
Pig update 220 pigs were in the lorry and they had to be taken to Sawtry for a rest before continuing their journey. Don't ask me how I know, I just do... 😬

FH
I remember taking a trundly train from Swindon to Kemble a few years' ago and we ran into a load of sheep on the line It was not nice, watching bits of woolly stuff (etc) flying past the window and it took us three hours to get to our destination FH

JAG
It was not nice, watching bits of woolly stuff (etc) flying past the window I'll bet the sheep didn't like it either ☹️ I do hope the pigs were Ok Justin A closed mouth gathers no foot.
Violet Elizabeth
"Swan on the line at Kingston" is a frequent cause of train delays on the Waterloo - Shepperton line. They nest just next to the rail bridge over the Thames, and frequently use it as a walkway. Poor pigs though ☹️ Still, if they do get squidged on the road, and the pork gets all mixed up with earth and grass and other nasties, they will still have a home in a Walls sausage 😳 "Lips, lids and 🙆🏻holes ... you can't beat the taste of a proper sausage". On the subject of sheep, I have just forbade Mrs Noger from acquiring two lambs that a local farmer is bottle feeding, and is now giving away as he is fed up with them following him round all day like, er, lambs. Harsh ?

Boonie Hound
Sorry - no update on piggy medical problems but will if I can. None of them were squashed on the road though - the lorry was tilted on its side but not tipped over.
Violet Elizabeth
Are you following me Meldrew ? Mmmmm, did think about roasting the whole ickle thing over a big fire outside, and wandering outside at various intervals with some sort of bready device to slice off some filling

Steve Groom
Alex, Were you in the tin top. I don't remember seeing a 7 go past whilist I was dealing with the RTC. Just for the record, the pigs were checked by a vet & were all fine. After a nice rest at Sawtry they carried on their journey to the big sty in the sky via the bacon factory. Its just as well there were not any sheep on board, my crew partner is Welsh with wellies & velcro gloves close at hand. 😬 😬 Any way there's normaly so much slow moving traffic on the A14, I'm suprised you noticed the difference. Steve Today I was mostly...............happy as a Pig In S#?t.
FH
Steve, Maybe you should make your presence in that area a more regular event and before the idiots bump into each other Despite all the cameras and signs, people still have a propensity to latch on to each other's bumpers! A14 must feature on the traffic reports more than any other road - including the M25 😳 Maybe Boonie should install the tailgater monitors lyke wot they got in Germany! It seems to work well there! Glad to hear the piggies were OK, even if they were en route to the smokehouse FH Edited by - FH on 6 May 2004 16:32:

Rachael
Steve, Alex doesn't have a tin top. He was in the Seven - it took him until about midday to get to Newark...I've deleted the texts he sent me, but I think he went past the accident at about 10-1030 ish. Alex Birtwisle
of course I was stopped in a lay-by when I sent Rach those text messages I was taken off the A14 and sent to St Neots only to get caught in roadworks on the A1(NB) before the A14 junction .... the roadworks at Wansford were fine though... Steve Groom
Alex, No wonder I didn't see you, I was at the scene, well up the A14 from where you were diverted off at Godmanchester. Sorry to hear about the road works at Wansford. I'll get on to the Highways Agency & get them to put more cones out. We can't have roadworks where motorists can get through without being held up Boonie, No I wasn't crewed with your TS officers, I was doing my normal job, crewing the Motorway Car. I knew they were on an operation with one of our other vehicles, looking for livestock carriers, so I asked them to attend & assist with thier expert knowledge. FH, If I spend anymore time on the A14 than I already do, I'll have to carry a tent & start paying council tax. Steve

Alex Birtwisle
Steve/Boonie/anyone.... what were the two dark blue lorries with full flashy sireny Police escort pushing through the traffic on the A428 yesterday morning 🤔 They didn't appear to be the kind of thing you would transport prisoners in (or pigs for that matter).... Boonie Hound
Steve The TS had rang me to say what a good job you lot were doing. Kala Lane is now complaining on Radio that the whole of the County's vets were not mobilised.
Steve Groom
Alex, It was probably Firearms on an operation or Cat A prisoner escort. Boonie, I don't suppose for 1 minute that Kala Lane had considered how all these mobalised vets were going to get to the scene, bearing in mind that we had most of the counties roads immobalised.... At least today was quiet.
