Alastair Brown
This is probably a stupid question but I will ask it anyway. Can you use 6.5 inch rims on the rear of an SLR without spinning the wheels constantly in the lower gears? I want to put something like 021Rs on the car because I don't fancy crossplys and CR500s are very expensive. I haven't seen O21Rs in the correct size. Peter Carmichael
Spinning the wheels will not be a problem. The rears on an SLR are oversized for road use and never get up to temperature with race tread compounds. A smaller tyre will work much better. On track, it may be difficult to keep the temperatures sensible with modest A021s.
jamesm
can you run the standard 185/60 r14 A021's on 6.5 inch rims? or do you need to go for a more expensive (wider) tyre? James M
EFA
If you can afford an SLR, but cannot afford the tyres, you are doing something wrong.
