John Alston
I intend to fit a 3D ignition system (Emerald when they eventualy get some available) to my otherwise stand Supersprint and would like to ditch the dizzy. Has anyone experience in this and if so what crank sensors did you use and how were they fitted. Also is it possible to remove the dizzy and plug the hole, or does it do other important things like holding in the oil pump drive. Thanks JohnA
Roger King
There are many systems available to convert to distributorless (wasted spark) ignition. Some come as complete kits with all the sensors and mounting brackets and others require the customer to supply everything except the ECU and loom. It is perfectly possible to remove the distributor on a Crossflow and fit a plug. We usually do this because it then gives much easier access to the under carb area. The distributor does not hold anything else in place, so this is an easy job.
