Paul White
When my car (live axle) was lined up with several others at the Wootton Hatch last month the rear wheel arches were 2.5 inches higher than any of the other 7s. Are the live-axled cars higher at the back than the De-Dions or could there be another reason? Just curious
DohNut
Do you have adjustable spring platforms? If you do they may simply be set high - I set mine high as I kept on bottoming out on a particular peice of road that I now dont use I was thinking of lowering it again but I do kind of like never having to worry too much about ground clearance. Paul White
Has It got What? It's the most basic model, it doesn't even have a stereo or central locking! Let me know what to look for and I'll let you know.
Peter Carmichael
Generally I thought most live axle cars were lower at the rear than de dions.
Paul White
Thanks Peter, This one's quite a bit higher! Any ideas why?
I.Mupferit
The Caterham build manual suggests 175mm ground clearance, measured just in front of the rear wheel arch from ground to u/side of the chassis and, I think, 155mm at the front but can't remember exactly where that is measured. Big Brother
Paul, Bring it to the Phoenix on Wednesday night. There will be crowds of us ready to take a look and give advice. (not sure we can help out with the central locking/stereo though 😬) Steve Se7en-Up! Less is more! Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines! Paul White
Thanks Steve, can't on Wednesday it's my wedding anniversary and I won't be able to drive a Caterham any more if I'm hung, drawn & quartered! Next time!
Paul White
Brent, 170mm just measured it. So it's not that then
