SvenDriver
I need to remove some old waxoyl so that I can get to a clean surface ready for some remedial hammeriting. Wirebrushing will remove some of the looser stuff but not the remainder. What can I do?
Julian Thompson
WD40 removes waxoyl. Spray on. Leave 10 mins. Wipe off. Of course you'll have to degrease then.

captain chaos
I've used white spirit in the past, which is exactly the stuff you can thin it down with. I used a hand spray dispenser to spray it on, leave it for a while then use a cloth to wipe it off or wash it down.
