BRISTOL SVA ADVICE PLEASE

DrivRich

Recommended Posts

Well, she is finished and passed her post-build at last 😬

Only snag is that there was a 6 week backlog for SVA (there was a one week wait when I phoned in March) so I have 2 weeks of waiting with a ready to drive car in the garage *mad*

Has anyone had an SVA at Avonmouth Bristol recently and were there any "funnies" that I should prepare for please *confused* Any other general tips 🤔

Thanks,

Dave

July 2000 in the pouring rain for my SVA at Bristol. The man really wanted to show that he was the boss. The steering rack bolts were not long enough, the sidescreen hinges had sharp edges and he was adamant that the brakes were not up to it so he then drove it round and round outside in the monsoon trying to lock up the rears so he could fail it. Headlight adjustment was also something that he had me mess with for half an hour so until he was satisfied.

Cleared off for half an hour to a car park, removed the washers from the bolts in the steering rack so a full thread protruded, filed down the edges of the plastic hinges, went back the same day and he approved it! Good job I had the tool kit with me.

His parting comment, "Get the brakes fixed, and if it had locked up at the back it would have failed!"

Other than that no problems. *biggrin* Good luck.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Must give Jules a call. The SVA is on the second Tuesday of the month so I could be at my first (as an owner) Bristol and Bath area meet 😬

It's worth a ring 'round to the next nearest centre(s).

I recently got mine transferred fron Derby - 6-8wks to Manchester - 6days.

They transferred the application no bother. Just note the reference number.

All that blatting would have been missed - and Stoneleigh.......
