Steve Robinson
On flat-out acceleration there is a really (really really) strong smell of petrol coming from my superlight, just wondering if this is common or if I have problems? If I do have problems where should I start looking? TIA Robbo
Jason Plato
DO NOT DRIVE IT . I would check the seals around the feul feed on the inlet manifold . also the drivers side of the tank , as the seal around the pump may have failed or the Antiroll bar may have broken and punctured the tank on either side . Check inside the boot , remove the black cover in the rear dirvers side and check the vent pipes from the filler pipe and the seal on your filler cap . dave
mav
If you had just filled it it could have been coming out of the breather?
Steve Robinson
It is worst when it has more than half a tank of gas in it, if that helps any more.... I am tracking it next Thursday so am now in a panic about getting it sorted quickly. Chris Wheeler at 7 workshop is away aaaarrghhh... Any other advice greatly appreciated. Jason Plato
If it gets worse with more in the tank then I would also go for breathers or side split from ARB . Dave
Peter Carmichael
The breather is easy to fix. Run an extended bit of hose up the rear stay for the rollover bar and then back down. ALL K-SERIES CARS PISS FUEL OUT OF THEIR TANK BREATHERS IN LEFT HAND CORNERS UNLESS THIS HAS BEEN FIXED.
Steve Robinson
According to Caterham we have been sent the wrong fuel filler neck for our petrol tank! Currently the breather pipe is connected into the spigot on top of the tank instead of breathing to atmosphere. They have recommended disconnecting the breather pipe and fitting a valve to the end of it, and blocking off the spigot from the tank. Hopefully that should cure it. Thanks for all your help and ideas Robbo
