To display a higher resolution image you need to either use the original upload method, that starts with this tool:

or copy and paste or link to the image on an external server

If you use the shortcut upload, the one that starts with this tool:

it automatically and irreversibly reduces the resolution.

@JK this is using the upload tool.

Andrew, well, it's not suspect, but while replacing many other bits it seems a nice thing to do, in fact it would be the only bit not replaced. Interesting in that I'd have to remove it to check things... I suppose I can do that being quick with my finger.

What's NPT? (I'll google it). IN fact I'll go and stick my finger in the dyke. Back soon.

and

this page is an interesting read about Smiths Instruments history.

Caerbont Automotive Instruments Ltd

@jk

yes the one you introduced me to that goes via the server. Let's call it the complex tool.

As it happens since then the two of the sender above are just simple uploads using the simple tool.

It seems if the image is already cropped and the subject covers most of the image area, the simple tool works, but if it does not and cannot be cropped, such as a text type document, then the complex tool is better.
