Area Representative DerekH Posted June 14, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted June 14, 2022 Hello all knowledgeable Caterham folk,I have a 2020 Sigma SV with 10,000 miles. On Sunday I notice the clutch pedal had started to click during the initial part of its travel, everything still worked OK but I needed to check it out to make sure something wasn't going to break.Pedal box cover removed, I can see that the click comes from the nylon end on the actuator rod in the clutch master cylinder as it moves off the stop plate when the pedal is depressed. What do you think is the cause, clutch wear?Solution, tweak the adjustment a little to try to eliminate it?Anything I should know? Adjustment is not covered in the 2014 build manual that I have.RegardsDerekH
ChrisC
Is it worth checking willwood to see if there is a repair kit available? I am only assuming it's a willwood because it's stamped into the cap on mine from 2016.
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted June 14, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted June 14, 2022 Had the same on my Willwood 1/2" clutch MS almost from new. Worst point was on way to catch ferry for France so ordered replacement MS while on way to Caen JIC !Put up with it & eventually went away. Still silent nine years & 23000 miles later with no other associated problems.
Area Representative DerekH Posted June 14, 2022 Author Area Representative Share Posted June 14, 2022 Hi Geoff,I've adjusted some of the play out of the actuator, there is still 2-3mm.I can see that its not going to cause an issue but it's not nice when it goes"click" every time you use the pedal. Had it been a cable it would have been more of a worry.I've put the car back together as we're using it tonight and tomorrow. Thanks for the replyDerek
