Sat Nav/Phone mountings

I’ve been looking for a while of a better way to mount my Garmin Sat Nav or phone, I might finally have come to a solution.

I wanted it to be waterproof (based in Scotland) and also, I prefer to use my phone with MyRoute-App. Reason being the route planning on the PC is much easier, the routes transfer to the phone more easily than onto the Garmin and finally the displayed info is better than Google maps or Garmin. The phone is an iPhone 8.

Apologies for the suboptimal photos but you can get the idea.

The bits I got were: -

- Case from Ultimate Addons 
- Case adapter from BuyBits.com
- Windscreen suction mount was the 17mm ball standard Garmin windscreen mount.

Problems solved: -

- Case is definitely waterproof
- Case works very well using the touchscreen of the phone, no need to open it
- The cable entry at the bottom of the case wraps around the cable for water tightness and stops the cable vibrating out.
- Short length of the windscreen mounting stops the phone from bouncing about too much
- Assembly much lighter than the Garmin + its waterproof case + sunshield

Problems created: -

- It’s not the smallest assembly but being tall it doesn’t interfere with my vision through the windscreen too much.

There are a vast number of different mountings for cars, bikes, push bikes on both the above sites so worth a look in general.
