Area Representative Andrew Gilbert Posted March 6, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted March 6, 2021 I have a 92 c20xe 7 and it has a std type 9 with the awful gap between 1st and 2nd, 1st gear is too short as well so I am presuming its the basic V6 xr4x4 item. But does anyone know what ratios it would have had fitted?I think they are 3.36, 1.81, 1.26, 1.1 and 0.82.
p.mole1
I'm not quite sure but have seen this item for sale at Burtons.Tracsport Ford Sierra Type 9 5 speed 2.74:1 long 1st gear conversion kit GBT9201 it is around £400. Thiese gearboxes are very simple and it shouldn't difficult to yourself if you are handy with a set of spanners.
Drumster
Your ratio figures are correct. IMHO 2nd is too short too.I put up with them for 16 years before I went for the Tracsport gearset 2.29 1.61 1.26 1.1 and 0.87My 7 is a '93 Supersprint with 200bhp Zetec and I find those ratios good for sprint/hillclimbing and touring
7 wonders of the world
Tracsport 2.29 - .87 semi helical gearkit in a full alloy casing..... Stock Ford ratios are no use in a 7, even the 2.74 1st is still way too low for a lightweight car, meaning the shift points are too far apart.
