Brake switch adjustment advice please

Snowman

Recommended Posts

Hi all, just found that both brake lights are not working.

Have followed the advice on brake light problem threads, ta all, the lights work when I jump the spade connectors.

Both adjustment nuts were completely loose, I've tried adjusting them up and down the thread till I swallowed the torch that I was holding in my teeth 😬

As it's now too dark to try much more can anyone advise where the nuts should be adjusted in order to function or is it likely that the switch itself is stuffed?

Thanks, Phil

Phil

the way it works is that the switch needs to be open ie with the bar depressing it to have the lights off, when you press the pedal the bar moves away from the switch and the lights come on. It maybe that the switch is a bit sticky, try some WD40 to ease it, if that doesn't work then the switch is U/S

Thanks Mark.

The switch seems to move freely enough.

I'll try to take it apart tomorrow, don't suppose anyone knows if there's any danger of somewhere that would sell a new one on a, very sunny, Sunday?

Phew! Chalk up another success for Tech Talk *smile*

Daylight & a can of WD40 worked.

I'll get a new switch on Monday & a monster sized directional torch!

Do wave if you spot me today, I'll be the one stopping every few miles to check they still work 😬
