Viblue7
Problem fixed and it was an earth fault. A loose connection on the engine mount nearside near the front wheel. The bolt securing the earth was too long and bottomed out without getting the earth lead firmly secured and hence a poor connection. The incorrect bolt had been used when the engine went back in so the bolt was tight but just not holding the earth lead so about a 1mm gap.
