Drumster
I very much doubt if you'll find a set on the shelf but I have seen a set that has been powder coated (stanchion and screens). It was on a black-packed car and personally i thought it looked pretty good.
johnnyseven
I think you can get them nylon coated which is a bit more durable- might look into it if nothing turns up
Wrightpayne
The problem is the screens - you have to get the glass out before they go in an oven. I did once obtain 2 new screens made in black from Kimble Engineering who make (made??) them. I met John Kimble in the Castle Hotel whilst on holiday in Dartmouth. We had a beer, exchange a plastic bag and some cash - didnt look dodgey at all.I’d recommend etch primer (upol aerosol) and satin black spray paint for the brooklands frame and powdercoat all the other bits.Ian
old gimmer
I had two screens made from a pattern by a local glass company £15 quite easy to remove/replace glass. J Kimble would not send me new screens, wanted me to send him the frames, aprx.£
johnnyseven
I have been told to buy the screens without the glass fitted and then get powder coated before sending back to Kimble to get the glass fitted- but if the glass can be removed and replaced easily them I could bet a second hand set and do it myself. Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted March 2, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted March 2, 2018 I've had black pack brooklands on my SLR for years (the coolest look if I do say so myself*biggrin*)Mine started as chrome. The guys at Kimble removed the glass had the frames powder coated down their way, then refitted the glass and returned it. Meanwhile locally I had the main stanchion nylon/plasticoated including all the twiddly bits good luckRog
