starter motor stuff

Got a dodgy one - it wizzes , but takes a few attempts to actually engage. Been doing it for a while, but gets a bit anti-social when leaving for work at 6am, or in a crowded garage. People have mentioned its the solenoid - corretc? If so, I can just replace that? What I want to avoid is doing that, but then having to get a new starter motor anyway. Is it best to replace the whole lot after all, for piece of mind?

Best place to get a solenoid from? What 'type' or 'spec' is it? Caterham parts? need it quickish! Cost?

Thanks in advance *thumbup*

Look in the Yellow pages, you should have a local company that rewinds, re-everytings to auto electrical bits. We have a very good one here is Sussex, who usually does it in 24 hours, or less if your stuck. They can check out the whole unit and tell you what it needs - don't waste you cash on a new unit, get it "serviced"

If it helps, I have a spare starter and solenoid that you are welcome to borrow (from a K series) whilst yours is being fixed.
