What aeroscreen?

I want an interchangeable aeroscreen for my 420R S3, I have the genuine Caterham composite aero kit which has never been used so I have the mirrors but I have decided I want a carbon one. I am thinking maybe the Meteor Motorsport perspex one is the best for use though the carbon has the best asthetics. The Caterham carbon aero kit is too expensive IMO!

After a bit of advice or experience of the following -

Is this any good or is it poor quality from kit car direct at £150? -

I like the visibility but prefer the look of the carbon ones, pros and cons, £200-

This looks good but again is it, £235 or £300 with the carbon mount? -

Thanks for any feedback*thumb_up*

Being a 5'7" short arse I had no choice but to go for the clear Meteor aeroscreen. Hunkered down, with a lowered floor, I'm peering through the top of it! Would definitely recommend it as the visibility advantage outweighs the aesthetics IMO.

If you haven't got the "quick release" captive channels on the inside of the scuttle, they are well worth getting if you want interchangeable like myself. It really is a 10 min job to swap.

I don't mind how they look either....

Thanks Smithy77

I am 5'9" with lowered floors so I can see ok with the aero but I do like to see the front wheels, on that the big standard centre mirror is terrible, I had one on a previous car that didn't have lowered floors and it really blocked the view of the left front. I'll either do without it or get a smaller Racetec one.

The clear aero might look well if it was tinted slightly with a spray or film tint.........................

Ok, so I bought a Meteor clear screen, question is what's the best way to hold it down in the centre? Fit the metal poppers to the bracket, use Velcro or remove the male poppers from the screen and screw the bracket to the scuttle using the holes?

My poppers where held into the scuttle with self tapers. When I fit the aero I remove the poppers and refit them on top of the aero bracket with the same screws. The poppers then act like washers holding down the aero. When I switch back to the windscreen, I just refit the poppers. Simples

Scuttle is off at the moment for wiring amendments, but mine is fixed with 2 rivnuts fitted into the scuttle (see photo below) and secured via 2 M4 bolts. The original poppers that are fitted with self-tappers remain in place as they are required for the tonneau cover.

I fitted it today with the poppers fitted to the original scuttle poppers held on with M5 dome head stainless screws, seems a success but the fitting was very time consuming figuring out where to drill the holes on the screen and center support.

Next problem is the mirrors, I did think the Racetech mirror set would do but the bottom line is I don't like the center mirror, it seems to obstruct the view of the left front no matter what way you fit it. I am currently looking for convex side mirrors that have a long enough stem to see what is behind you thereby not needing a center mirror. I have the Spa F1 mirrors that came with the Caterham aeroscreen kit but the stem is not long enough to see behind you so I would still need a center mirror.

The Racetec GP2 mirrors with a long stem might be the best but they aren't half expensive, theres the classic mirrors and then theres Motamec F1 mirrors.

Hmmmm...................................

Suggestions welcome

Just fitted the standard Spa mirrors, should be fine with no center mirror but time will tell.....................
