HendrixsWhiteStratReturns
Afternoon all and a very belated happy new year to all on here. The ongoing problem with my 1700 Supersprint Xlow are all well documented elsewhere on here (essentially undriveable as it won't tick over or run properly).By a process of elimination I believe the problem to be fuel related (possibly carbs) but with the car now SORNd and with no MOT I have reached the stage where I'm happy to pay a mechanic to come and pinpoint/fix the problem at my garage rather than try and get it somewhere. Car has had new dizzy, leads, coil, fuel lines, tank, fuel pump, plugs etc etc etc and pickup problems in the tank/airlocks have all been ruled out.I have spoken to one chap (non cat specialist who thinks the problem is valve seats and is keen to whip the head off) - I'm not entirely convinced and want a second option before doing that. I'm not looking for a cheap fix, happy to pay the going rate but I run my own business and I've thrown enough time at the car already trying endlessly to get it running right, I just want it it fixed now - whatever the issue - so I can get it ready for spring and finally have some fun with it before I'm too old to remember why I wanted one in the first place! If anyone can recommend someone I would be very grateful ! Nick T
Hi Martin,Where are you. I am sure I have a compression tester lurking at the bottom of the tool box, so it would not be difficult to do a compression test. This would at least give you an indication as to the state of the engine.CheersNick
HendrixsWhiteStratReturns
Hi NickCheers for the offer - I'm in Brook just outside Godalming - but it has been recently compression tested and everything was fine, no obvious issues, which is why I'm dubious about the last diagnosis.
