TomB
Hi, around 6-8 years ago (time flies!) I swooped my 1.4 k series block for a 1.8. I've kept the original block, but it's long seized, the liners are rusty and would need a major rebuild to be of use to anyone. I'm struggling for space and would like to get rid of it. Is there any reason to retain it? I had been keeping it in the event I needed to produce the old engine by the authorities, or for some thoughts of provenance with the car. But it's a 1996 Caterham, not a 1926 Bugatti.Additionally, the engine number that is on the V5 is I think a Caterham engine number rather than the Rover one. The last 5 digits of the chassis number are the middle 5 digits of the engine number on the V5 in the form KD-XXXXX-RJ. I can't see any trace of this number on the 1.4 block, and I don't think it's the form the Rover numbers take. When I changed the capacity, the DVLA were only interested in the change of capacity for taxation purposes rather than the engine number. Thoughts? Mankee
I'm going to turn one of my spare blocks into a garden ornament!
ECR
I have an Aston Martin V12 block in the dining room which makes a great wine rack. A 1400cc block will be a bit small (but ok for half bottles ?)
TomB
It's not even fit for display! Covered in saw dust, sticky oily grime and seized pistons liners. It is only fit for scraping, but should I? Is there any conceivable reason why I should keep it?
