Head Light Funny....MOT tomorrow...Help

With main beam switched on, use a multimeter to measure the voltage at each of the three terminals on the bulb holder (in each case connect the positive probe on the meter to the terminal in question and the negative probe to the battery negative or a known good earth such as the engine block). This will quickly identify whether it is a supply or earth problem. 12V missing where expected means supply wiring problem. 12V found on the ground side of the bulb where not expected means earth fault.

Solved it!!! The main beam wire into the connector at the front of the chassis is a little dodgy probably from vibration because it hangs off the frame. It is shoved in firm at the moment ready for MOT tomorrow and will be sorted properly at the w.e. Both head lights really clean and tidy now after all the fettling during my 6.30 this morning in the garage. Eldest son found the fault!!

Drove to the garage in torrential rain, aero mod!! only for the guys not to be there thinking I wouldn't turn up in such bad weather!! Tomorrow 8.15 is the new time and it should be sunny. The joys of a Caterham.....

Thanks everyone for all support in the hour of need.

Roger
