Jonathan H
I am about to fit verniers to my K series S/S, but before doing so I thought I'd see what the cams are set at with standard pulleys. The first reading I get on the inlet is .023". Are they usually this far out considering .060" is recommended or am I doing something wrong?Jonathan
Mankee
The blurb for DVA's SS driveability kit says that the inlet cam is typically retarded by up to 15 degrees, which means less lift at TDC, which matches with what you have measured. Julian H
When Dave installed my SS cams he first did so without verniers to demonstrate how far out they were. I don't recall the figure but it was ridiculously wrong!
oilyhands
I generally measure before fitting verniers. I have had figures as low as 5 thou, Julian's was around 17 thou. It is rare for them to be more than 30 thou, the exhaust cam is usually much higher. Lift per degree is around 3.5 thou so it indicates that your inlet cam is around 11 degrees retarded.Oily
Jonathan H
Many thanks Gentlemen, I'll get on with fitting the verniers now that has answered my question.
