K200CSR
While my car is in bits i'm taking the opertunity to replace all the O-Rings on the dry-sump pipe work, what's type of material are they made from?My supplier has a choice of Nitrile (too lower a temp range I think), Vitron or EPDM.Feedback would be most appreciated.RegardsCharles
Domus
Viton stands a much higher temp than Nitrile. On my days working on rotary vane air compressors hot oil (80c) and 150psi would turn a nitrile seal flat and brittle in a matter of months. Juat as I was finishing working on compressors we started to see silicone O rings on a few applications they felt very soft and seemed to stay that way from major service to major service. ECR
Viton for me ....Viton®General temperature range: -15° to +400°F (-26° to +205°C) Low compression set at elevated temperatures Good ozone, weather and aging resistance High heat resistance Good for wide range of oils & solvents, such as aliphatic, aromatic & halogenated hydrocarbons, and vegetable oils Acids Low out gassing
