Carbon wing protectors

Does anyone have a pair of these that they want to shift, as the car needs to continue losing weight. Used condition and a bit tatty is fine. Would like the genuine Caterham ones so that I can just slam them on in place of the stainless steel ones.

Just take them off - the ultimate weight saving!  Lose the metal the rivet and the clunky pvc piping.

You can fill the holes by putting a bit of tape over then fill from the back with silicone, clear or black whichever matches wings best. When sikicone set, peel off tape.  I did mine years ago and they've been fine since.

Hi Peter. Actually, I think you might be right there. I'm not even bothered about the holes left over to be honest. Just worried that the wings will get completely trolleyed after being peppered by stones from airfield days.

Are they GRP?  If so the gel coat will get chewed.  CF much tougher as no gel coat.

If GRP can easily be shimmed / sanded reprayed. Or just replaced.

 Are they black?

Yep, just normal GRP. They are a fetching Nightfire Red, ala Rover Metro! Think I'll remove the stainless steel wing protectors for now, make a note of their weight and flog them.

Do a search online for carbon-effect vinyl, use your original guards as templates, then stick on the vinyl. You get the look and protection, but far cheaper and super-light!
