Premier Power Lotus 7 Club Speed Championship 2014 - So Where Are We ?

I've had a couple of email's asking what the current state of the play is with the championship, so here's my thoughts from a "Scorers" viewpoint, and may not reflect what actually happens

Class 1

Nobody has completed 7 event's yet, but it's been a close battle at the front with a three way tussle between Paul Boston, Rob Jacobs & Steffan Eldred. Whilst Steffan Eldred need's two wins from the final 5 event's for an outright win, he can be stopped but it's likely to be nail biting again.

Class 2

With Class wins spread out among the top 8 it's anyone's guess who will be victorious, with it looking extremely unlikely that anyone will get a perfect 700 it's likely to go down to the wire at every event.

Class 3

With wins spread over the class, Oliver Wright in the lead the other contenders need at least 3 more events with high scores to stand a chance in unseating his lead.

Class 4

Nobody has yet completed 7 events but Mike Sankey has a strong foundation for taking the class unless Lynn Gilbert or another competitors pulls out the stops.

Class 5

Harewood saw Shaun Elwell take not only a class win but his 7th win of the season securing the class win for the 2014 season. with A couple of new class records under his belt already, stands a good chance of securing the overall championship if he keeps on Form.

Class 6

Nobody has completed 7 event's but Mark Durant is in front with both Rob Margel and Simon Jenks needing to do most if not all of the final 5 rounds.

Class 7

Running as lone Wolf in Class 7 Simon Rogers seems to be having fun chasing FTD's

Novice

Clive Marsden is ahead of the pack but the Novice Championship is still wide open, as the rest of the Pack starts picking up the pace.

Ladies

With strong scores Lynn Gilbert is out in the lead with Gill Elwell suffering from Shaun Elwells storming runs, and Becky Boston needing to find the supercharger to catch Lynn.

Edward Lewis

With Oliver Wright with good improvements at several event's together with a couple of bonus wet events last year he's street's ahead of the rest of the pack.

Of the 27 competitors having qualified for the Edward Lewis Cup by having 5 pb's in there current class 15 competitors have positive scores, with the top 5 all averaging over 2 points per event.

Overall Champion

Whilst in theory there are 28 competitors who could win the overall championship in reality there is one leader in Shaun Elwell is currently on 504.48 putting everyone else under pressure to not only break class record but thoroughly smash them to stand a chance of catching him.

So where now....... it's anyones guess....... if your not competing, why not blat out to one of the final 5 event's for a great day's motorsport with some very close competition. The next event is Curborough on the 24th August.

Yes, well done Shaun! and, well driven - under 60seconds at Harewood is 😶‍🌫️ no matter how much power you have *thumbup*

Gill, 7 maybe but then Simon's just moved there. I'm all for a bit of competition but I'm 25% down on power 5% up on weight and have a 6speed manual 'box. I'll have a think over the winter.

Hopefully see you all at Curbs.

  • 4 weeks later...

& with 3 rounds to go.........

Class 1

Steffan Eldredd only needs a single win from the final 3 rounds to take the class

Paul Boston needs to compete at the final 3 rounds to catch Steffan and score more the 299.30 points to catch Steffans current score.

Robert Jacobs needs to compete at the final 3 rounds to catch Steffand and scrore more than 299.52 to catch Steffans current score.

Class 2

There are currently 4 still in the running for winning Class 2

Andrew Willoughby is in the lead on 697.57 and as far as i'm aware not competing at Wiscombe or Anglesey

Paul Collins - 692.20, needs to compete at all of the final three rounds and score more than 299.02 points from the final 3 rounds to catch Andrew

Graham Howard - 690.95 , needs to compete at all of the final three rounds and score more than 299.52 points from the final 3 rounds to catch Andrew

Alan Blower - 593.90 needs to compete at all of the final three rounds and score more than 298.85 from the final 3 rounds to catch Andrew

Class 3

Oliver Wright is in the lead but Matthew Jenkins needs only a single win from the final three rounds

Class 4

Mike Sankey has secured Class 4 for the season.

Class 5

Shaun Elwell has secured Class 5 for the season

Class 6

Nobody has completed 7 event's but Rob Margel is in front, but both Rob & Mark Durrant need to compete in at least 2 of the final rounds to qualify.

Class 7

Running as lone Wolf in Class 7 Simon Rogers seems to be having fun chasing FTD's, but needs to compete in at least 2 more rounds to qualify.

Novice

Clive Marsden has secured the Novice Award

Ladies

Lynn Gilbert has secured the Ladies Award.

Edward Lewis

Oliver Wright has a substantial lead and is probably uncatchable at this point.

Of the 33 competitors having scored Edward Lewis points this year 17 having a positive score, with 6 scoring above 10 points,

Overall Champion

Whilst in theory there are 14 competitors who could win the overall championship in reality there is one leader in Shaun Elwell is currently on 505.86 putting the few with a potential to catch him under pressure to not only break class record but thoroughly smash them to stand a chance of catching him.

With the running list for Wiscombe now out, it changes the landscape.

Class 1

With Rob Jacobs running as lone wolf, will see him entering Anglesey needing 199.52 points.

Class 2

With Paul Collins, Andrew Willoughby & Graham Howard not entered, it all for Alan Bowler to loose......

Class 3

could be decided at Wiscombe

So After Round 11.

Class 1

Will be a close battle between Steffan Eldred and Robert Jacobs will decide Class 1 at Anglesey.

Class 2

After Alan Bowlers win at Wiscombe, theres only two contenders for the crown, Andrew Willoughby and Alan Bowler. With Andrew not competing at Anglesey Alan has everything to go for but the rest of the Class won't make it easy for the Hat to help Alan chase the crown...

Class 3

Matthew Jenkins has secured the Class 3 title for this year with his win at Wiscombe.

Class 4

Mike Sankey has secured Class 4 for the season.

Class 5

Shaun Elwell has secured Class 5 for the season

Class 6

With a close fought battle at Wiscombe with only 0.02 points separating Robert Margel and Mark Durrant on the day, but with neither having completed 7 events and it looking unlikly for either to be competing at Anglesey it looks like the Class 6 cup will stay in the cupboard this year.

Class 7

With Simon continuing to run as lone wolf, and breaking records it looks like he's chasing Shaun for the overall crown.

Novice

Clive Marsden has secured the Novice Award

Ladies

Lynn Gilbert has secured the Ladies Award.

Edward Lewis

Oliver Wright has a substantial lead but it looks like Gill Elwell has pulled out the stops and after another great run at Wiscombe it looks like a close battle at Anglesey with Gill only needing to score 2.69 points ahead of Oliver Wright.

Of the 33 competitors having scored Edward Lewis points this year 18 having a positive score, with 6 scoring above 10 points,

Overall Champion

Whilst in theory there are 10 competitors who could win the overall championship in reality there is one leader in Shaun Elwell is currently on 506.16 with 3 competitors in the 497's, Simon Rogers, Steffan Eldredd and Robery Jacobs needing to smash the class records.
