Chris F
I've just had my seven MOT'ed and it failed with a leaking front damper. Do I need to replace both sides when I replace the leaking one (the other is showing no signs of problems - I replaced both only 7 years ago so am somewhat surprised that one has sprung a leak already!) Second problem is that I understand that Caterham may be out of stock of the Bilsteins at the moment (according to Redline who tried to get some last week from them) but I've not managed to actually get hold of Caterham Parts yet. Does anyone know if I have any other options so that I can get the car back on the road asap? Car is a 1996 1600SS with widetrack. Simon.Rogers1
In the past i would have said to always change dampers as a pair across an axle. However having seen so many on the dyno now and seen the vast discrepancies in performance with absolutely no correlation between age and usage i would now 100% say just change the leaking unit. Rob Patching
Bilstein will rebuild them for you for about £180 a pair.
Harry No Sheds Flatters
It might be worth posting an add in the wanted section if you want to get back on the road quickly
