36.3 Litres according to my build manual

Although I always believed that mine was 36l, it doesn't actually take more than 32 from empty (as in won't run the car empty).

I think the 2013 onwards tanks are a little smaller at 32L vs original S3 @ 36L

R400 D never ever ever will show more than 29litre.

Also, according to the nice Caterham techs at the Midlands GTKY7 day this year, the fuel scavenge pipe doesn't reach the bottom of the tank, so the last "few" litres are impossible to use.

There is about 6 l of unreachable fuel in a Duratec S3 tank. This is because the fuel pickup, which is an integral part of the (Ford Focus) pump / filter assembly is not located at the bottom of the tank. I think this applies to the Sigma engined variants which use the same fuel module.

I managed to put 35l in mine when I refuelled last week. Does the fact that my car is running carbs make a difference or was the petrol station having me over (and others)?

 

...and no I don't normally leave it that late due to the increased chance of picking up bits of carp from the tank.
