Gearbox gasket for 6spd box

Hi all

 

Does anyone know if this is required when fitting a 6spd CC box ?

Having spoken to the very helpful chaps at Redline they seem to think its not required.

 

Just wanted to get your thoughts before I take out the old unit ( not the misses 😬)

I don't think it is needed on the 6 speed - just the little O seal around the little shaft that pokes out at the top of the box.

Thanks for this. One potential issue eliminated then, although keen to know if this makes a difference and if anyone has fitted it ?

 

O seal ...Yep that's the other problem .....

 

Posted on wanted section as my order for the seal has not appeared so now need to find one...

I didn't fit it when I put my 'box back on the bellhousing, just a good lot of clear silicone sealant (esp round the 'o' ring) and squished the whole lot back together.

Early 6-speed gearboxes (mines from 1996) did not have the O ring. So I use the gasket, plus silicone around the "little shaft.
