Roger Ford
I've been having some problems with my brakes binding on. I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you adjust the brake pedal wrongly, it's possible to have fluid pumping from the master cylinder into the system, which can't then get back out again. Can anyone (1) confirm this, and (2) tell me whether it applies to the standard Caterham master cylinder? Thanks.
Ian Mackenzie
Hi Roger Yes this is possible if the piston does not come back to the end of its stroke (Though I can't remember if there is anything that would limit this in the pedal box?).... This could also lead to the following symptom... of the brakes binding when they are hot as the fluid / any air in the system expands..but may appear OK when cold with no binding. Roger Ford
Well, I've had a good look, and there's definitely nothing preventing the master cylinder actuator from coming all the way out. So unless I've got a faulty master cylinder I don't think it's that. Back to the plan of removing the brake bias adjuster, I think.
