Grim Reaper Posted January 25, 2014 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Having just blagged 7 Timken rear wheel bearings for £8.26 each delivered from Chicago on ebay, I found Rockauto selling the oil seals for £1.43 each instead of £8-£11odd elsewhere. Grim Reaper Posted January 27, 2014 Author Share Posted January 27, 2014 Forget it, they emailed me today and said they only have 2 left They are cheap in Germany (€1.90) but postage even for 10 is more than the cost of the parts I can't believe Amazon want £12.45 EACH Caterham are £5.40 each so I'll see what Redline want for them. revilla Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Out of interest, are the bearings listed alongside those seals by Rock Auto, TRUPART TBK817, which seems to be a widely used Ford item with loads of cross references, the same as the Caterham 675KIT? What I really want to know is are they the correct bearings for a De Dion rear? Rock Auto website seems to suggest they are "L/H side bearing" only, do you know if they are right for both sides? Grim Reaper Posted January 28, 2014 Author Share Posted January 28, 2014 In my case, a 2003 vintage S3 DeDion superlight, the bearing are 4x JL68145 - JL68111Z Timken Set#24. If you search for L68145/L68111Z (not L68111 as I believe this a smidge smaller OD and its partner L68149 is a smidge smaller ID too) you should find them.
