Guest
I've seen a couple of 'how to' articles explaining how it is possible to bond the cycle wings onto the car rather than bolt through the wing stays. In particular, the article written by Grubster here seems a particularly nice way of approaching it. Build Diary If I did it this way, will it be OK like that for the IVA or do they insist on them being bolted on? Regards Tom
MartinH
When building may car, I left this until the end and ran out of steam before it went back to CC for the post build check so I got them to do it. They bonded them on and it passed IVA just fine. Well...it failed first time for other reasons bit thats another story!
BigCol
I bonded my wings (looks so much neater) Tom and my initial IVA fail was for other reasons - don't worry!
Guest
Glad to hear it. Would much rather bond them. I'll get some adhesive bought :D
BigCol
I used, as per Caterham and available via them, Terostat 9220. At the time Derek advised me thus: "We do use Terostat to bond the wings, when using it make sure you take the powder coating off the wing stays and rough up under the wing. Don't use too much to initially bond the wing. When it has stuck put some more on in the infill's using a wet gloved finger to smooth it down." Grubbster
Hi Tom, I'll email you back later, the big heads are fine for IVA. But we have had a few from a batch that have failed - the weld on the big head doesn't look right. Big head are investigating . . .
