Bumble
So... to replace my rear panel isn't just £84 and a little hard graft. As I now understand, I need a sheet metal worker and a good welder to replace it!! Anyone got a rough idea how much this might be so I can start budgeting? Thanks, Bumble

Bumble
oh, and does anyone know how I can replace the Caterham badge/branding on the rear, I'm guessing it doesn't come as part of the rear panel assembly? Bumble
Thanks Ian, once I've started, I fear I won't stop. I'll become one of the kent polishers! Matt
Drumster
When you say a sheet metal worker and a welder, you'll need to find someone who is skilled in working aluminium, but I'm sure you knew that......
Ian B
Noooo! You can still have a dirty rear panel, no need to polish it! 😳 For original badges and logos have a look at Caterham Parts
k.russell
I am a sheet metalworker and a competant ali welder but chose to get arch to put the rear panel on. if you have a vinyl boot cover and painted car you coud get away with putting a few rivets in the joint that is welded as the cover fits over this area. Bruce at Aarch did suggest that it would take me a few attempts to get a back panel on with a good finish.
TomB
If you do some of the work yourself, you can keep costs down to a few hundred. Several years ago my Mum drove into the back of the 7. I stripped all the fuel tank out, boot floor, wings & lights and trailered the car to Arch. A few hours later, I had a new panel on, cut for fuel filler & popper holes. Of course, it then needed spraying which I arranged at a local classic car specialist. I cant remember the exact cost, but if you budget £500 for Arch & spraying, you probably wont be a million miles out.
