Hodsonpe
Ive got a silver top Facet pump supplying my DCOE45's. Tonight it got very noisy, sounded like somebody had a stone in a tin can whacking it up and down. Performance seems ok, the tank had plenty of fuel (even filled it right up later on) but did sound rather as I might expect it to if it were out of fuel. The problem came and went during the day, going from very loud to its normal almost silent. Anybody else had this? Is it about to croak or TADTS? DaveMorris
Mine only makes a lot of noise either when the tank is empty , or when priming the carbs. I had one fail - but it just stopped dead.
keybaud
If it hasn't made this noise before, is there anywhere air could be entering the fuel line before the pump?
Clousta
My fuel pump sounded like that when the hose from tank to the fuel filter developed a split. No fuel was leaking but there was enough of a split to allow air to be sucked in. Pumping air makes the noise. Very quickly there was not enough fuel going to the carbs at higher revs and then we could not 'proceed' any more Up on the axle stands at home the split was very difficult to see. It only became obvious when moving/touching the fuel pipes.
