bspeed
I have recently changed the inlet plenum on my R400D to a plastic one as the aluminum one cracked. I have kept the same air filter and hence have not fitted the air box with the cut out in the side of the bonnet. All the popping and banging has stopped but one issue has appreared. If I push ther throttle to the floor quickly there is a complete lack of power as if the engine is about to die. If I briefly back off the revs pick up again. If I depress the throttle steadily the problem does not occur. It is as if the engine is straved of either air or fuel. Any thoughts-is it due to the changed plenum and the need for a re map of the ECU?
elan_fan
get your aluminium plenum repaired and re fit it. Or fit a new plenum of the same type as the old one. Not much point in trying to re invent the wheel if it worked before.
Steve Campbell
I think Caterham changed to plastic following a known issue with the Alu one of stress fractures over time.....mines still got an Alu one (and touch wood it hasn't been a problem....yet !). So not sure fitting the same type as the old one is actualy possible if you buy new from Caterham.
Andy Green
I removed the aluminium plenum from my R400D a few weeks ago when I fitted RBTBs. It is for sale with a few other bits in the for sale section.
