  1. Anyone interested in this number plate? It is currently on my daily driver that I am now selling due to a new company car. I paid £250 for it. Purchased it to go on my R400 but ended up using R 4 OOV. Any offer considered if you pay the transfer fee. Never sold a plate before so no idea whats involved !
  2. Should maybe also add. There is a strong smell of petrol during cranking and pops into exhausted.
  3. My R400 Duratec failed on emissions last week. Purchased the Easimap6 cable and downloaded the software. Ran the engine and did some traces. Never seemed to control to Lambda so purchased a new Lambda Sensor. When fitted the ECU did control to Lambda when it got to 97 and the fan was on. As soon as the fan cut out the Lambda reading just oscillated at about 1 Hz or slightly less. Changed the spark plugs. Now engine will not start. Have buzzed out the Injector and coil pack feeds and all seem OK and the MFU does connect the grounds when powered up. The ECU is now reporting Baro Failed Oxygen 2 failed Injector A Open Injector B Open Injector C Open Injector D Open It does not have a Baro sensor as it uses a MAP sensor.. None of these errors were reported when the engine last ran. Does open mean the injectors ore open circuit or stuck open? Have cleaned all earths When testing for emission there was a slight misfire at the 2500 rpm which may be causing the failure and Lambda oscillation. Any suggestions as I am running out of ideas………. 4. The MFU is used on the K and Duratec. Once I Googled "Multi Function Relay Unit Diagram" I found what I needed. Thanks all.
  5. Does anyone know the pinout for the MFU i.e. TRW100970-1 and ideally the circuit diagram? Am trying to solve some funnies on an R400 Duratec. Thanks in advance! Any links would be greatly appreciated. Have reached the web but with no success!
  6. I invested in the Easimap 6 cable and downloaded the software onto an old laptop and confirmed that the ECU never controlled to Lambda. i.e. I could never get a stable 1.00 reading. It was always changing from max to min. So invested in a new Lambda sensor. Result I think. The ECU will now controls to Lambda i.e. 0.99 to 1.01 fluctuating reading once the engine has reached 100C according to the ECU. The car gauge reading just over 80 as normal. As soon as the temp drop to 95 is drops out of Lambda control. Off to MOT station...... Initially the HC and CO are OK but Lambda is out which is what the ECU is saying. We have another go with it controlling on Lambda and we get the HC is OK but the Lambda is reading low i.e. 0.95 ish and the CO is up to 3% How can the engine control to a Lambda of 1 but after the cat it is 0.95? Are these symptoms of arriving with a hot cat and it working initially and then cooling down? Is this a case of I need a new Cat or do I need to find a 7 MOT station that will play around and wait to get a set of reading that work? Car has only done 8500 miles. Should I get a new cat and a bypass pipe and just fit the cat for the MOT? Seems a lot of effort! Even with a defective Lambda sensor would you expect it to kill a cat in 4000 miles which is all I gave done this year. Interested in any thoughts before I make further investments !
  7. Thanks for the comments. I should also have said that the car has not been upgraded or changed since the last two MOTs when it eventually passed both times well within the limits. I did have to balance the Roller Barrel Throttle Bodies. So the map might not be perfect but can certainly get through an MOT. I am trying really to understand the most likely thing that has failed. My guess is the Lambda sensor.
  8. So MOT yesterday. Failed only on emissions. Thought it would the RBTC needs to be balanced again. So checked balance and are spot on. Spark plugs all look good. No other running issues. Failed everything i.e. High CO, High HC and low Lambda CO was over 7% Should be < 0.2 HC over 1000 ppm Should be <200 Lambda 0.73 Should be 1 +- 0.03 We has a play for a while on this. As we went up the rev range we could get HC or CO in range but never together. Lambda seemed to be very low or very high and never seemed to be in range. So just the local MOT centre not at a Caterham garage. So plan is new spark plugs as I have a spare set and try a new Lambda sensor. Any other suggestions?
  9. I am trying to work out why I failed the MOT emissions test yesterday. Plugged in the OBD reader and says it cannot link. Tested reader on other car and it works fine. I am sure I have tried to read codes before without a problem on the Caterham. Have tried it with ignition off and in positions 1 and 2 with and without immobiliser set and with engine running. Every time the reader tries to establish a link for 10 or 15 seconds and then reports and link error and asks me to check the ignition is on the the connecter is plugged in. Reader is powering from OBD socket. Any suggestions?
  10. I have now sent the photos so if you have not received them then please shout.
  11. BTTT Now has new tax disc and will have a years MOT from next week.
  12. I have now sent the photos so if you have not received them then please shout. To answer the other questions. The 13" wheels are 6" on the front and 8" rears I am the only owner It is not a metallic colour
  13. Mark, The Canada trip was really my final big thing in the Caterham. Have built 2 over the last 10 years and have the itch to build something else.In no rush to sell but hopefully this year or next. Hopefully bump into you soon. Andrew
