Molecular--Bob
While i am putting the zetec in i have been doing various other jobs as i have gone on, and have found that my throttle pedal is sticking again. Now on my 3rd bush in 3 years, and giving serious thought to fitting some form of bearing, even if this involves getting some housings welded onto the old pedal to hold the bearings. Is this a good idea?
elie boone
If oxidation is the cause, you better replace the bronze bush with a teflon one, much easy'er than re engeneering the pedal
Jason Plato
why are you alone having this issue ? there must be something wrong with your bush (phnaar phnaar) or the chassis shirley ? dj
Molecular--Bob
Teflon sounds good. The car lives outside, which i think doesn't help, and i suspect the root cause may be some damage to the inner face of the pedal pivot bore as the first replacement bush had a bit of surface damage that i didnt spot until i had "persuaded" it into the pedal. I cleaned it all up with emmery paper, but i think the fit is a bit out, allowing crud to get in.

shn7
Have you generously applied copper grease when fitting the bush in the past? I found mine had siezed recently but it looked like it had been dry fitted. Having cleaned and polished it and the pedal then re-assembled with said grease it's much nicer to use and I'm hoping will not see the corrosion come back.
