Sheds Moderator
If you can't get one how about building up the worn gear teeth with weld and grindingit back? Failing that, is a std flywheel the same basic dimensions? If so then get a breaker one with a good ring gear and turn it down in a lathe.
oilyhands
Get an old R65/1600/1400 flywheel and remove the ringgear using heat, fit it to your R500 flywheel. Have done this a dozen times on flywheels. Oily

oilyhands
The geometry must be the same for the starter to work, I expect the ring gear is simply thinner in section, but the presentation plane of the ring gear will be the same. Oily
