Chris Norman
Early version of Emerald ECU (M3D) will not stay connected to my laptop. I have the correct Emerald software (later versions detect an earlier ECU and give appropriate error message) and have previously connected the laptop to read/write maps (.fig type) I offered a copy of my map to a fellow BC'er but when trying to connect to download from the ECU I get the following message in the bottom right hand corner of the Emerald software opening window Status - ECU connected then (in red) Status - No ECU link above messages alternate in a random pattern and the laptop cannot read the map ☹️ I have also inspected and tested the connection lead which appers to be OK and the 7 runs fine. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Chris
jingars
Presumably you are using a USB to serial converter? If so, what make and model?
Chris Norman
Hi Jingars, Connection is via serial lead no USB adaptor - older laptop with serial port on COM1 Thanks Chris
alan7
Sounds like the lead, can you borrow one from someone to try it out?
Chris Norman
Hi alan7,This did cross my mind although I did check the lead for continuity but definitely no harm in trying an alternative. I was concerned the error message was an emerald default advising the ecu is malfunctioning. Anyone in the Woking area with an emerald lead who would not mind me visiting them for 5 minutes to check If it is the lead I can then source a replacement Thanks Chris Edited by - Chris Norman on 12 Mar 2011 09:21:
