C1 1YNX
*smile*Hi everyone, I have just done ( well, a couple of months ago! ) a track day at Oulton Park. Near the end of the day my diff started to whine quite a lot, oil appeared to be coming out of the breather hole.......so i called it a day and put the car back on the trailer and towed it home! What i need to know is how to top up the oil - i can see the filler hole but dont know how to get the oil into it as it is at a funny angle and a tight squeeze! Any help would be much appreciated. MADMALC
I use a small funnel with a tube pushed onto the outlet. I go underneath and stick the end in the filler/level hole and my able assistant holds the funnel and pours oil in the top. A bit slow but it works. When I have done I drain off the 'contraption' and then stick the free end back in the top of the funnel. This stops dirt getting into the line. You can take the floor out of the boot to make access easier if you wish. I use this to do the gearbox as well. Mick Day
It's a long time since I've had to do this so bear with me. You need to jack the car up & place on axel stands so that the de-dion tube doesn't get in the way. Plus remove the boot floor to make access easier. Once the plug is accessable trickle oil in until it starts to dribble out. Or is that dribble it in until it drizzles out? Oh sorry that's cooking!
