Tikey
Maybe a visit to Arch to see if Bruce or his team could help? Otherwise the company used by CCM is Chips Away and they have a mobile service based in Derby. A quick google for their details : Chips Away Derby HTH
FlymoFraser
Dean Sorry, can't recomend anyone locally, where are you out of interest? Don't recall seeing your car out and about. Unfortunately aluminium stretches when dented so it's quite difficult to panel beat. Probably worth a chat with Bruce at Arch to see what he thinks the likelyhood of getting a good repair at all would be. Bruce is a nice bloke and is likely to give an honest answer. If you find somewhere good locally, please do let me know as I need a job doing on the tin top. jingars
I managed to reverse my tintop into a fence (my foot slipped off the clutch, honest!) and so contacted several local "smart repair" places. To a man they all told me "you're having a laugh - you need a proper bodyshop", but one local chap took the trouble to explain why smart repair wasn't a goer, who recommended a decent local bodyshop and who also expressed a desire to have a go at a couple of outward dings on my Caterham's rear (badly packed boot). Rob Davis - rob.davis@smartabc.co.uk I believe he is based in Inkberrow. I haven't got round to getting the Caterham sorted so cannot speak from personal experience, but he might be of use to Neil (and might be too far away for Dean). Edited to add that FYI I live in Droitwich, so I don't know if his franchise covers the Worcestershire area, or whether he covers further northwards towards Brum. DMorris
Thanks Widney lane, Sol Neil - you? I will seek the guidance of Arch at first instant I think and see what they suggest. I may have been a bit optimistic hoping it could be knocked out with no re-paint. The guy I saw at a body shop said would be expensive to re-paint , then add the stripe and then may have to colour match nose cone (whch also has nose band and armourfend.... etc etc..£££££££..may as well just get the whole bl**@@y car repainted! I also thought about the possibility of using a race box on my csr and cutting out the bonnet because the dent sits directly where the cut out may be. Would only give this a go if there were any positive effect on performance with cold air intake over the standard set up which seems to have no real cold air feed at all and a third of the filter sits very close to the underside of the bonnet - the race box costs £300 ish! (maybe cheap looking at the re-paint above!) and I have no idea whether the hole could by cut in a painted bonnet and still look as it should (have never seen one to know). I just wish the sodding box that did it hadn't fallen off the shelf in the garage - may end up being an expensive bit of bad luck - Urghhh Cheers Dean
FlymoFraser
Aha, I have seen you! 😬 I'm just round the corner, off Chelveston Cres. small world. There are plenty of small specialist painters around if you get a new bonnet who are surprisingly reasonable. I'll ask the Mid Staffs lot tomorrow, I'm sure they have a couple up that way.
