k80rum
Out of curiosity, does anyone know roughly what compression readings the various compression ratios give for a 2.0 Duratec Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library
6speedmanual
Darren Unfortunately there is not a direct correlation between compression ratio and compression test readings. Too many other variables creep in. What's behind your question? Peter BRAWNGP green SUPERLIGHT FCITW 2009 😬
k80rum
Bother. Thanks Peter, I wondered if that might be the case. I fitted a set of Omega pistons to my Duratec 2L recently and I'm pretty sure the CR is 11.5:1 I just wondered if I could confirm what I was actually getting. I appreciate that readings should be the same across cylinders but wondered whether for a certain CR there was a 'window' of readings and how it compared to readings for a 12:1 piston for instance. It's apropos of nothing in particular, just keen to learn and understand Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library
6speedmanual
Darren Yes, it's a reasonable question/idea to try to connect the two. The CR quoted in any given engine is the ratio of the swept volume plus clearance volume into the clearance volume. Valve timing (and overlap), pumping losses and leakage are what stop a compression test being a valid way to establish CR. However if you know someone with same engine spec, it would be possible to carry out a compression test on both and the reading should be in the same ball park (but probably not actually identical). So ask on here. Sorry, my engine is a K so I can't help with such a comparison with your Duratec. Pendennis
Hi Darren. Today, mine registered 13.5bar (199psig) at full throttle. Didn't do all the cylinders as the engine is as fresh as a daisy Want to rent an 18th century Farmhouse in Rural Somerset?
